Spring 2005, Volume 17
Veritas ("truth" in Latin) is the literary arts magazine published annually by the Program of Humanities in Medicine at the University of Virginia. This year Veritas presented a unique challenge and opportunity by becoming an online magazine. As with previous volumes, you will find a collection of poems, patient narratives, prose, and photographs that were contributed by medical students from all years. In addition to the traditional contributions, we were able to include some unique works by three fourth-year medical students. Under the link for art, you will find a breathtaking photo essay by Samuel A. Taylor, Jr. entitled A Journey to Po Lin Monastery and a unique and inspiring musical piece, UVA Hospital Sounds, created by Johnny Lee. Also, Julie Moyers, a visiting medical student from Loma Linda University, offered her perspective on the residency interview process in a longer essay, The Match. We hope that you enjoy these exceptional pieces and find inspiration and insight in all of the works in the 2005 edition of Veritas.
