Gibson Memorial Lecture
Lung Cancer: Is Screening Helpful?

Claudia Henschke, M.D., Ph.D., New York Presbyterian Hospital,
New York NY

Lung cancer is a leading cause of death in the U.S. among women and men. All too often, diagnosis comes too late for treatment that would substantially increase survival time, much less yield a cure. What about screening for lung cancer? Whom would we screen, and how, and when, and would the costs of large-scale screening pay off in reduced morbidity and mortality?
