Promonocyte

Bone marrow aspirate smear, Wright-Giemsa stain, 1000x
Description:
The promonocyte is the earliest recognizeable monocyte precursor seen by light microscopy of a Wright-Giemsa stain of a bone marrow aspirate. It is approximately the size of a promyelocyte and can be differentiated from a promyelocyte by the early nuclear indentation and convolusion, and the fact that the cytoplasm starts to become lighter blue in color and the granules are finer.
