UVa has a collaborative program for fetal diagnosis and early management of congenital heart disease (CHD) with the UVa Children's Hospital Heart Center and the Perinatal Diagnostic Center, in addition to a program dedicated to comprehensive treatment of adults with CHD.  Pediatric and adult cardiologists with specific training in congenital heart disease coordinate a team comprising specialists in electrophysiology, heart failure, interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, cardiovascular surgery, anesthesia, maternal-fetal medicine and genetics, as well as nursing specialists in pediatric and adult cardiology.
