UVa cardiac electrophysiologist group has pioneered many advances in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal heart rhythms.  They range from advanced mapping technologies for identifying the origin of abnormal rhythms and assessing state-of-the-art arrhythmia pacemakers and defibrillators, to developing high-resolution intracardiac ultrasound devices to visualize the heart during catheter studies.

The UVa Atrial Fibrillation Center is a comprehensive source of education; medical, ablative and surgical treatments clinical research; and outcome measures for the management of atrial fibrillation. Because of the diversity of AF patients and the wide variety of treatment options, our cardiac electrophysiologists, cardiac surgeon, nurse practitioner and research coordinator work as part of a multidisciplinary team to offer individualized treatment to each patient.
