One in three American women die of heart disease.  It is the #1 killer of American women -- more than breast and lung cancer combined. 2006 uva heart ambassadors

Only 1/3 of women know that heart disease is their biggest health threat and many do not make the connection between risk factors – such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol – and their personal risk of developing heart disease.

The good news:  Heart disease is a problem that you can do something about.

UVa Women's Heart Health Program
The University of Virginia Health System, through our nationally recognized UVa Heart and Vascular Center, wants to help change this disturbing reality.  We developed a Women's Heart Health program designed to give women the knowledge, tools, and extensive support to reach and maintain a healthy lifestyle.  At our program, women can be screened for heart disease as well as receive complete cardiac care.
