HERP2-transduced CD34+ cells show impaired erythroid differentiation. Cells transduced with MSCV-HERP2-IRES-GFP were cultured in erythroid medium for 7 days, followed by flow cytometric analysis for the erythroid marker glycophorin A (GPA).
Delehanty., L.L., Mogass, M., Gonias, S.L., Racke, F.K., Johnstone, B. Goldfarb, A.N. Stromal Inhibition of Megakaryocytic Differentiation is Associated with Blockade of Sustained Rap1 Activation. Blood, 101: 1744-1751, 2003.

Stromal contact selectively blocks late-phase Rap1 activation. K562 cells cultured with or without TPA and with or without HESS-5 stromal cell contact for the indicated durations were analyzed for Rap 1 and Ras activation as well as for Akt activation.
Expression profile of RUNX1, GATA-1, and CBF-beta in healthy human bone marrow. Top left panel, RUNX1; Top right panel, GATA-1; bottom panel, CBF-beta . Black arrows indicate megakaryocytes, and red arrows indicate erythroblasts. Immunoperoxidase staining was performed using avidin-biotin complex on paraffin-embedded marrow clot section. Slides were counterstained with Harris hematoxylin (original magnification x 400).
