Located in the heart of Virginia, the city of Charlottesville is a vibrant and progressive culture matched by small town charm.
The University of Virginia Campus is a center of activity in Charlottesville. "The corner" is the center of UVa student life and college football games attract "townies" dressed in orange.
Three founding fathers chose to live near the city of Charlottesville and their estates are still here today .
Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello is located right outside the city and is visited by thousands of people each year.
James Monroe also lived near the city of Charlottesville. His estate, “Ashlawn Highland,” has been preserved and used for over one hundred years. During summer, Ashlawn hosts outdoor theatre and wine festivals.
James Madison’s Montpelier is just a short drive away from Charlottesville. It includes not only the house of the former president, but also a two hundred acre national landmark forest. |
