Roanoke Area Facts:
The Roanoke Valley is a metropolitan area of about 250,000 people nestled in the
heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is surrounded by unsurpassed natural beauty and offers a mix of big city opportunities with small town charm, making it attractive to residents and their families. Roanoke is called the "Star City of the South" because of the 100-foot high man-made star that sits atop Mill Mountain, located within the city limits. The star was erected in 1949 as a symbol of the progressive spirit of Roanoke.
