Generalist Scholars Program (GSP)

The Generalist Scholars Program is designed for students anticipating a career in primary care (family medicine, general pediatrics, or general internal medicine).

The Generalist Scholars Program (GSP) is a scholarship program designed to develop leaders in primary care. Enrolled students will meet all the basic requirements of the School of Medicine but will have an opportunity to enhance their curriculum with activities specifically designed to allow them to develop the skills most utilized in primary care.

The program is scholarly in nature and attempts to allow students the opportunity to enrich their medical school education with:
- a tailored curriculum (including specialized course work and clinical training opportunities)
- a scholarly experience resulting in thesis production
- a close mentoring relationship with a generalist faculty member
All students offered admission to the University of Virginia School of Medicine during the regular interview season are given the opportunity to apply for the program.
