graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in 1987, and completed my residency at the University of Missouri-Columbia. My wife, Patty, and I moved to a small town in East Tennessee, where I practiced the full spectrum of family medicine until I heard the siren song of academic medicine. I left practice in 1995 to complete a faculty development and geriatric fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Since joining the faculty here in 1997, I have directed our department's geriatric programs, and have been director of our department's medical student programs and a first-year "doctoring" course, the Practice of Medicine. I am excited about serving the residents as their program director.
Patty and I have been married for almost 20 years, and have four great kids, Ginny (17), JP (14), David (10) and Anna (6). We love music, movies, hiking and camping. I am a den leader for David's Webelos den and lead a confirmation small group in my local church. In my spare time I like to read, go fishing, or check out one of C'ville's great restaurants.
