Precepting Encounters

Each of our fellows precepts residents and medical students in our outpatient Family Practice Center at UVa one half-day per week.

Additionally, each fellow may choose to take a two-week block on the inpatient attending service. The service is a valuable learning and teaching opportunity, and we encourage each of our fellows to take full advantage of the experience.

Other Teaching Activities

Our fellows have the opportunity to be involved with teaching experiences for 2 half-days per week, including the one half-day spent precepting in our outpatient setting.

Other activities available to our fellows include:

  • leading weekly conferences in the Department, such as the Wednesday morning Information Mastery Conferences or the Friday morning inpatient team reports
  • teaching workshops for our required Third Year Family Medicine Clerkship
  • instructing residents in the yearly “September Course” for second year residents and “February Course” for first year interns
  • leading small groups in the Practice of Medicine Course for second year students in the Medical School
