All award recipients, their nominators, chairs and deans will be honored at the annual Rotunda dinner "In Celebration of Teaching" held in April (Thursday, April 28, 2005).
All University Teaching Awards
Award: $2,000
Deadline: February 14
Purpose : Excellence in teaching emphasized
Who may nominate? Any faculty or student. All nominations must be submitted to the committee through the dean or department chair.
Who is eligible? University teaching faculty
The nomination packet: Limited to 12 pages, including: brief executive summary, CV, reflective statement about teaching, six one-page letters of support.

Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award
Award: $2,500 and life membership in the Alumni Association
Deadline: February 14
Purpose: Recognizes an outstanding teacher who has contributed significantly to University life.
Who may nominate? Any faculty or student. All nominations must be submitted to the committee through the dean or department chair.
Who is eligible? Must have been a member of the UVA faculty for at least ten years.
The nomination packet: Limited to 12 pages, including: brief executive summary, CV, reflective statement about teaching, six one-page letters of support.

Alumni Board of Trustees Teaching Award
Award: $2,500 - one semester of research leave at full pay; $1,500 research award
Deadline: February 14
Purpose: Recognizes outstanding teaching by full-time untenured faculty on tenure tract.
Who may nominate? Any faculty or student. All nominations must be submitted to the committee through the dean or department chair.
Who is eligible? Full-time untenured faculty on tenure-track
The nomination packet: Limited to 12 pages, including: brief executive summary, CV, reflective statement about teaching, six one-page letters of support.

Cavaliers Distinguished Teaching Professors
Award: 2/9ths salary (two additional months plus fringes), together with the annual $2,000 research fund - award winners work with the Teaching Resource Center during the two-year period
Deadline: February 14
Purpose: Two-year appointment in recognition of eminent scholars for outstanding and enduring excellence in the teaching of undergraduates
Who may nominate? Any faculty or student.
Who is eligible? Teaching faculty.

Virginia Outstanding Faculty Awards

Purpose: Superior accomplishment that reflects strongly the mission of his/her institution, in four areas: teaching, discovery, integration of knowledge, and service
