Promotion & Tenure (UVA School of Medicine)

P&T Candidate & Referee Data Entry

The 2007-2008 P&T Process

Academic advancement (promotion and/or award of tenure) originates with the department Chair and the faculty candidate during the annual (May/June) faculty performance evaluation, and takes a full year to complete. All actions are reviewed at the department, School of Medicine, and University level.

Each department has a designated contact person(s) responsible for entering all candidate and referee data into the P&T data entry system (see data system entrance above).  This person will also coordinate the P&T process with the Dean's Office.

The promotion and tenure process has a strict timeline based on the requirements of the Provost's Office.  It is important for chairs and candidates for promotion and/or tenure to be very familiar with the process.

Selected core features of the process are given below; see the sidebar for a full list of available resources.
