Helping Emergency Medicine |
The University of Virginia Emergency Department is a vital resource,
providing a front line of care for the
community. The staff works around the
clock to save lives and move patients to safety. But it takes more than a
dedicated staff and comprehensive services to serve 60,000 patients per year.
It also takes money. And while patient revenue and state funds offset many of
the department's operating expenses, that's still not enough to cover everything
- including safety programs in the schools, professional staff development,
mobile defibrillators, and toys for the children's waiting room. For these and
other special needs, the Emergency Department looks to the community for vital
support.
By supporting the Emergency Department, you help us to provide care that is as immediate, painless, and compassionate as possible. A contribution to the Special Fund for the Emergency Department will help to equip our emergency vehicles, update technology, support our educational programs, and provide ongoing training.
