Parking: There are parking garages across from the Medical Center, but they have hourly rates and are expensive ($4 per hour); we suggest to either (1) stay in a hotel close enough to walk or (2) ask your hotel about their free shuttle service morning and evening to drop you at UVa or (3) go to Parking and Transportation Office after getting your identification badge and get a permit ($5) to park at University Hall which has a shuttle every few minutes to the Medical Center.
Directions to Parking: Going South on R29, pass Barracks Road Shopping Center (Emmet Street), turn right on Arlington Blvd, take next right on Milmont, and P and T will be on our left past the Milmont Shopping Center. If you continue South on Emmet (R29) the next right will take you to U-Hall. Going North on R29, pass Cavalier Inn on your left (U Hall is your next left) continue down Emmet Street (R29) and take the 3rd left on Arlington Blvd, then take your next right on Milmont, and P and T will be on your left past the Milmont Shopping Center. Courtyard University/Medical Center If two participants share a king suite, there are 2 separate sleeping areas: a king and a sitting room with pullout, also a kitchen. An exercise room is available for your use.
You must indicate when you make the reservation that you are a trainee attending the UVA Nutrition Services Traineeship. Speak to Debbie Brown directly. Free parking provided, and short walk to UVAHS. The special UVA rate is $95 Sunday through Thursday and $145 Friday & Saturday except special event weekends for a 1 king with pullout sofa or 2 double beds (these rates do not include the king suite). Rates good through 12/31/06. We recommend this one.
