Bariatric Surgery Nutrition
Purpose of Clinic Services:
To assist patients with nutrition needs before and after bariatric surgery and to maximize weight loss and minimize nutritional deficiencies. (For description of facility, please refer to link to the bariatric surgery program)
Role of the Clinical Nutritionist:
- To provide informational classes on bariatric nutrition to people considering gastric bypass or Laparoscopic Band surgery
- To provide nutritional counseling for bariatric surgery patients at all initial and follow-up appointments
- To co-facilitate the bariatric surgery support group: "Lighter than Life"
Treatment Goals:
- Optimize weight loss
- Maintain nutritional status during and after weight loss
- Provide support and guidance through bariatric support group
