Charlottesville

The City of Charlottesville, where UVA Health System is located, is in Central Virginia located within the rolling hills of the Piedmont Plateau and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Albemarle County borders the city.

Charlottesville is accessible to major cities such as Richmond, VA and Washington, D.C. The city is within driving distance to major points of interest...Monticello, Jefferson's Home, Colonial Williamsburg, and Virginia Beach.

The city has diversified light industry. Agricultural crops are abundant, especially peaches and apples. Albemarle County, just outside the city is nationally known for fox hunting and it's horses.

Charlottesville has an appealing climate. Winter is mild and the last frost is usually in the first week of May. The dogwood trees introduce the coming of Spring. Summers are generally hot and humid. An autumn excursion down the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway can Fall everyone's favorite season.

Housing

Dietetic interns are responsible for their own housing. In previous years, many interns chose to share accommodations, in order to reduce housing costs. In general, monthly housing costs often range between $300 and $800 per person, depending on location, amenities and number of roommates.
