When to Call the Inpatient Diabetes Nurse:

Newly diagnosed patients with diabetes

Patients being discharged from the hospital on sliding scale insulin regimens

Patients with poor diabetes control pre-admission

Patients with DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis)

Patients with HHS (Hyperglycemic Hyperosmolar State)

Patients requesting to speak to the Diabetes Nurse
