UVa Health Foundation to Raise Health System Profile and Support |
|
A powerful new group - the UVa Health Foundation - is now working on behalf of UVa's Schools of Medicine and Nursing, Medical Center, and Claude Moore Health Sciences Library. The foundation was created to strengthen and support collaborative aspirations across the Health System. These goals include finding new ways to improve human health, developing innovative models of medical and nursing care and education, and uncovering new knowledge about the human body and the diseases that threaten it. Establishment of the foundation marks an unprecedented level of collaboration between the various components of the Health System. The main focus of the foundation will be to represent the interests of Health System donors and to promote Health System needs in a larger, and more collaborative context. The foundation will allow the Health System to involve donors in our collective vision for advancing medical and nursing education, research, and patient care at UVa. A number of prominent community leaders and philanthropists serve as charter members on the foundation board of trustees. Each brings to the foundation a wealth of board experience, business acumen, and dedication to the UVa Health System. The UVa Health Foundation may receive, administer, and invest gifts to benefit the Health System. Donors may continue to direct their gifts to any area of the Health System they choose, and they will still be recognized through all University and school giving societies. Medical alumni may still choose to make their gifts through the Medical School Foundation.
