Map of relevant UVA grounds, parking and lodging
From the North (Washington,DC) –
1. Take Interstate 66 West to Exit 43 (Gainesville / 29 South / Warrenton).
2. Follow Route 29 South to Charlottesville (approximately 90 miles).
3. Route 29 turns into Emmet Street within the city of Charlottesville.
To DoubleTree Hotel:
Travel approximately 3 miles past Airport Rd. signs on Rt. 29
(still several miles north of Charlottesville),
Cross over Rivanna River bridge,
Make a left turn at next stop light onto Hilton Heights Rd.
At first stoplight, make a right into drive of DoubleTree Hotel
which is straight ahead.
If you drive past WalMart on Rt. 29, you have gone too far.
To Quality Inn:
Continue on Rt. 29/Emmet St., through intersection with Hydraulic Rd.
At next light, make a left into Days Inn parking lot,
drive to back of lot and then into Quality Inn parking lot.
To Econolodge:
Continue on Rt. 29/Emmet St.
Look for the Econolodge on the left side of Emmet
just past UVA's Klockner Stadium.
To Red Roof Inn:
Continue past the Econolodge to intersection with University Avenue.
Make left onto University Avenue.
Drive past UVA grounds and Rotunda, through Corner District.
Red Roof Inn is on the left after passing under the train overpass.
From the East (Richmond, VA)-
Travel on 64 West to Charlottesville,
Take Route 29 North (towards Washington) exit,
Take Fontaine Ave. exit on right,
At end of ramp, make right onto Fontaine Ave.,
Travel approximately 2 miles to big Y intersection - either right or left
is onto Jefferson Park Ave.
Make left and continue straight onto Emmet St. if going to DoubleTree Hotel,
Quality Inn or Econolodge. (see below for further instructions)
Make right on JPA and then left onto University Ave. for the Red Roof Inn
which will be immediately on your right.
To Econolodge:
After crossing University Ave., JPA turns into Emmet St.
Econolodge will be several hundred yards down Emmet St. on the right.
To Quality Inn:
Continue on Emmet St.
Go under the 250 Bypass.
Look for Days Inn/Quality Inn signs on the right.
Make a left into Days Inn parking lot,
drive to back of lot and then into Quality Inn parking lot.
To DoubleTree Hotel:
Continue on Emmet Street from intersection with University Ave.
for approximately 5 miles.
Look for WalMart on the left.
At stop light just past WalMart, make a left onto Hilton Heights Rd.
Make an immediate right into driveway leading straight to DoubleTree Hotel.
