Research into neural regeneration and the utilization of stem cells hold hope for millions of Americans who are affected by deafness, blindness, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurological disorders. The members of our lab are investigating those topics and seeking to discover methods for the stimulating the regeneration of neurosensory cells and means for preventing their loss. |

Jeffrey T. Corwin, Principal Investigator, received his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCSD in 1980 and taught at the University of Hawaii from 1981-1988. He has been with UVa since 1988, holding various professsional positions. |

Zheng Qing Hu, Post-Doc, completed three degrees, Masters, M.D., and Ph.D., from Shanghai Medical University in China and a second Ph.D. degree from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden prior to joining the lab in January 2005. |

Zhengqui Lu, Post-Doc, received a doctorate in Neurobiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and began his first post-doc training in this lab in August 2005. |

Jared Christophel is a Medical Resident Physician at the UVa Medical Center who received his MD here at UVa and is doing a four-month research rotation in the lab. |

Joe Burns, graduate student in Biomedical Engineering, received his bachelors degree from UVa in 2006 and is doing an eight-week rotation in the lab.
