Affiliate and Outreach Services Program
The Affiliate and Outreach Services (AOS) Program is based on an administrative framework that allows community hospitals and other healthcare organizations to provide CME for their physicians and healthcare providers.
As an ACCME nationally accredited provider, the University of Virginia School of Medicine provides an approval and monitoring process to designate AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for each Affiliate's educational activity. A variety of activities such as Tumor Boards, ongoing lecture series (weekly, monthly and quarterly) and single conferences, and enduring materials on a range of topics may be approved for credit.
The AOS Program provides regular communication with Affiliates networking opportunities by means of our quarterly newsletter, the CME Herald, and personal visits. Affiliates are also kept up to date with current accreditation and policy issues through regular workshops and customized training. The AOS staff can also provide liaison for identifying and contacting potential speakers both from UVA School of Medicine faculty and other sources.
