UVa Health System, Department of Pediatrics seeks: children, adolescents, women and men with Non-Rhabdomyosarcoma Soft Tissue Sarcomas (NRSTS). The patient must be less than 30 years old at the time of the biopsy that established the diagnosis of NRSTS.

Patients with NRSTS are commonly treated with surgery, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy. The type(s) of treatment used depend(s) on the type of tumor and the risk group. This study is being done to find out: (a) if treatment based on each subjects level of risk will get rid of the tumor, and (b) if lessening the treatment for lower risk subjects will decrease the side effects of treatment and still get rid of the tumor.

The study involves taking FDA approved chemotherapy agents, blood draws, physical exams, urinalyses, tumor biopsy (in certain situations), pregnancy test (for females of child bearing age), CT/MRI and bone scans. The patient may also receive radiation therapy and/or surgery. If you are assigned to study treatment Arm A or Arm B, you will have no extra visits compared to standard treatment. If you are assigned to study treatment Arm C, you will have at least 20 more visits over 22 weeks to receive additional treatment compared to standard therapy. These visits will take about 3 hours (for outpatient visits ) or 24 hours (for inpatient admissions). If you are assigned to study treatment Arm D, you will have at least 20 more visits over 25 weeks to receive additional treatment compared to standard therapy. These visits will take about 3 hours (for outpatient visits) or 24 hours (for inpatient admissions). You will be asked to visit the doctors office for follow-up exams for at least 5 years after your treatment is completed.

You and/or your insurance will be billed for all study related medication, tests, treatment, and procedures.
No compensation is provided for this study.
