Wireless Device Tracking
Medical Center Policy No. 0240 (II.1.08) addresses Wireless Devices, exclusive of Cellular Telephones and Communication Devices.
Devices such as wireless or cellular PDA's (Personal Data Assistants), wireless or cellular laptops or other computing equipment, and other forms of wireless devices emit radio frequency (RF) transmissions that can adversely impact certain medical equipment.
Wireless devices are restricted and must be registered, prior to purchase, within the University of Virginia Medical Center.
A WIRELESS DEVICE MONITORING FORM is to be completed prior to the issuance of a purchase order for procurement of wireless devices within the Medical Center, and submitted to the Director of Clinical Engineering. Approval will be collaborated through Clinical Engineering and HS/CS.
