Students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree in the field of Immunology may enter the Immunology Training program in one of two ways. A student may apply to and enter the Immunology Training Program directly. In this case, they will take courses, do laboratory rotations, and choose a thesis advisor from among the Training Program faculty at the end of their first year, becoming associated with that individual’s department. Alternatively, a student may apply to one of the basic science departments in which members of the training faculty have appointments. In this instance, students who select their thesis advisor from the Immunology Training Program faculty automatically become affiliated with the program. In either case, first year students will have an Advisory Committee composed of three faculty members that will help tailor a program of study, including coursework and laboratory rotations, that meets their individual needs and career goals. |
