Magnesium is found in the bones, blood, and muscles. Certain medications like cyclosporine or diuretics can make your child's blood magnesium low. If this is a concern for your child, encourage high magnesium foods:

High Magnesium Foods (that are low in saturated fat)

  • Vegetables
    • spinach
    • black-eyed peas
    • garbanzo beans
    • beet greens
    • broccoli
    • navy beans
    • lima beans
    • beets
    • tofu
  • Seafood
    • shrimp
    • oysters
  • Nuts and Seeds
    • sesame seeds
    • sunflower seeds
    • cashew nuts
    • wheat germ
    • wheat bran
    • peanuts
  • Fruits
    • peaches
    • figs, dried
