A machine is used to estimate how much oxygen is in your child's arterial blood. This is done by placing a probe that squeezes around a finger or toe and uses light to make the measurement. The test does not hurt and is not usually frightening. There is no known harm from the test. The normal test result is 95-100%. The number may be expected to be lower for your child.
