Exercise/Stress Testing

Nancy McDaniel M.D.

This test evaluates several parts of the body's response to exercise. The heart rate, blood pressure and electrocardiogram will be recorded during a program that increases the difficulty of exercise every few minutes. The level of initial difficulty of exercise will be set by your child's size (height and weight) and sex. The exercise may be on a special stationary bicycle or on a treadmill. Your child will be encouraged to perform to their very best effort. The test will be stopped when your child has reached maximal effort and can go no further or the test will be stopped if a dangerous abnormality of heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure or blood flow is detected.
