Event MonitorNancy McDaniel M.D.This test records a short episode of the heart rate and rhythm when the recorder is activated by the patient. The recording is then called in over the telephone and the electrocardiogram is evaluated. This allows the patient to record the electrocardiogram when the symptoms such as chest pain or palpitations occur. These monitors should be with the patient all the time or placed on the chest intermittently. The recordings may help evaluate a problem that only happens once in a while. Once the recording is transmitted over the phone, it is processed, evaluated, and sent immediately to your cardiologist. Your cardiologist will inform you as to the results of the test. |
