Aortopulmonary Window

Nancy McDaniel M.D.

The heart in this defect has four chambers and four valves.

The defect is a hole between the lung artery and the main blood vessel going to the body (aorta). This hole allows extra blood to go into the lungs and causes the blood pressure in the lungs to be too high.

The extra blood in the lungs can cause the babies to tire easily and not feed well.

This defect can be fixed with an operation.
