Anomalous Left Coronary ArteryNancy McDaniel M.D.In this defect the heart has four chambers and four valves which are all put together normally. The main blood vessel that takes red blood (blood with high oxygen) to the heart muscle was not formed correctly. The left coronary artery has its starting point from the lung artery (pulmonary artery) rather than the aorta (main blood vessel to the body). This means that the heart muscle does not get the right amount of oxygen that it needs to pump correctly. Sometimes the body does well with this and sometimes this can cause a heart attack. This is a very uncommon defect and can be fixed with surgery.
