"Congressional Insight"
At the Resident Retreat, held at Wintergreen in November, 2005 our pediatric residents got a taste of what it must be like to be a federal legislator and to have to make important decisions on a variety of topics in a short amount of time, with limited information, and with the goal of re-election always looming in the background. "Congressional
Insight" is a computer simulation based on the 109th Congress in which players experience first-hand the pressures of the elected official, complete with time limits, poll data, news headlines, and regular financial reports. Bethany Dame, from the National Association of Manufacturers, ran the computer simulation, and she became the Speaker of the House for the afternoon, while our residents, working in teams of 6-7, were sworn in as freshmen legislators in Congress!
