Identification Badges

All visiting clergy and pastoral visitors should wear a UVa Health System photo identification badge while making visits in the Health System. ID badges are to be worn for security purposes during and after regular visiting hours. Visiting clergy and pastoral visitors who come to the main lobby Information Desk from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday will be referred to the Department of Chaplaincy Services and Pastoral Education to register for a photo ID, if they do not already have one. Chaplaincy Services and Pastoral Education will verify identification, gather contact information, and provide this visitation policy and related information.

Visiting clergy and pastoral visitors will then be directed to the ID Office to have a badge made. Badge office hours are: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM. Any visiting clergy or pastoral visitor who was issued a temporary badge by the security sergeant after normal visiting hours should make arrangements with Chaplaincy Services and Pastoral Education to have a photo ID made. Badges do not identify visiting clergy as members of the professional staff of the University of Virginia Health System. Misusing badges, or other violations of the visitation policy, will result in revocation of badges and visitation privileges. Having an ID ensures that you are on our departmental mailing list. This entitles you to receive mailings of our newsletter and special announcements about fellowship and educational events that we sponsor. Please wear your badge at all times when you visit the Health System.
