Carlos M. A. G. Vieira is a physician from Brazil, graduated at the Federal University of Ceara (UFC). His main research domains are:1. Development of a murine model for neonatal malnutrition, avaliating the impact of this condition on the intestinal maturation, neurological and behaviour outcomes;2. Study of the effects of the APOE polymorphism in vivo, through the use of APOE knockouts and APOE3/APOE4 knock-in mice;3. Development of a animal model of Cryptosporidium parvum infection;4. Analysis of potential interventions in the effects of malnutrition on intestinal and cognitive development

Laurie Archbald-Pannone, M.D.
Laurie Archbald-Pannone is from Gainesville, Florida. She finished her Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Virginia in July 2005. Prior to coming to Charlottesville, she attended Vanderbilt Medical School and Johns Hopkins University. Her undergraduate degree was in History of Science, Medicine, and Technology, with a minor in Women's Health in the Americas. Currently, she is researching alternative therapies for Clostridium difficile infections and plans to pursue an MPH degree. Ultimately, she plans to participate preventive medicine and in clinical trials for new treatment strategies for C. difficile and other widely prevalent disease.

Luis Barroso, M.D.
Dr. Luis Barroso received his B.S. from the University of Notre Dam and is M.D. from the University of South Florida. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at UVa. He is working with Dr. Richard Guerrant on Cryptosporidium infection in vitro, focusing on tight junction regulation and disruption of pathogenesis.
