Problems

Why then, despite glutamine’s well documented benefits, is glutamine seldom provided as a supplement to individuals?

Unfortunately, supplementing glutamine becomes a problem since glutamine:

  • is easily destroyed by heat (this preventing cooking, pasteurization, and sterilization),
  • is poorly soluble in solution,
  • has a short shelf-life in powdered form,
  • must be consumed shortly after preparation or kept in a refrigerator or on ice,
  • is quickly destroyed in the acid environment of the stomach,
  • breaks down into the excitatoxic neurotransmitter glutamate or toxic monosodium glutamate.

Accordingly, there is needed a glutamine derivative product that can deliver all of the numerous benefits of glutamine while overcoming the inherent problems of free form glutamine.
