The Dean's Center for Global Health Scholar Award in Medicine The Dean's Center for Global Health Scholar Award in Medicine provides funds for University of Virginia medical students who have completed their clinical clerkships to engage in an overseas elective experience. Traditionally, scholars work in a tropical developing country for a minimum of six weeks, and preferably eight weeks.
Students interested in international health or research experiences are encouraged to explore existing or potential collaborations that exist through the University of Virginia's strong ties with Brazil, Uganda, Ghana, and South Africa. We encourage you to contact the Office of International Health (243-6383 or alb2b@virginia.edu) to explore possible options abroad.
Applicants are required to identify a UVA and onsite mentor.

When you are ready to apply for credit for your international rotation, please complete the UVA SOM Application for International Elective and the School of Medicine International Elective Form at least one month prior to your rotation .
