Information for Current Center for Global Health University Scholars
As part of your scholarship, you are required to fulfill several obligations in order to receive your award:
1. Attend the pre-departure orientation on the first Friday following award announcements in the for cultural sensitivity and health awareness training and general scholar award information.
2. Complete and submit documentation including
a) International Studies Office online post-acceptance documentation
b) copy of itinerary from a travel agency (or copy of electronic ticket)
c) health insurance including evacuation insurance
d) proof of all recommended vaccines (signed off by student health)
e) if your research involves human subjects, you must apply for either
HIC (Human Investigation Committee) or IRB (Internal Review Board) approval
f) in addition, all graduate students, including SOM students must
complete the online form for graduate travel
3. Arrange a pre-departure planning meeting which you will organize and chair to present your project goals and proposal for publicizing your experience upon your return to the USA . The coordinator of the Center for Global Health and your mentors must attend along with any other faculty or friends you choose.
4. Arrange your post-trip reflection meeting upon your return. Attendees to this meeting should match your pre-trip planning meeting. Submit a copy of the following:
a) trip report
b) on-site mentor evaluation form
c) UVA faculty survey
5. Post trip publicity, that may include either
a) oral or poster presentation at an UVa event such as the CGH Symposium, or
b) paper submitted for publication
