I am Brazilian researcher at Center for Global Health. My activity consists of receiving biostatistics training, data management and pedigree analyses as well as acquiring knowledge about Geographical Information System – GIS. My background is master degree in Civil Engineering – Water Resources, from the Federal University of Ceará, Brazil. The title of my thesis is: “Impacto da política de aumento de oferta hídrica do governo estadual sobre a redução do estresse hídrico nos municípios cearenses”. The last three professional experience in Brazil were: ? COGERH, Companhia de Gestão dos Recursos Hídricos, Fortaleza - CE, Technical Researcher DTI - Project SANMARAN. Mar/2004 – present, Sponsorship CNPq. Information: The Project SANMARAN seeks to study the Maranguapinho river and its social and urban influence. ? UFC Federal University of Ceará. Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering. Fortaleza, Researcher - Programa Waves. Mar/2001 – Mar/2003 Sponsorship CNPq. Information: Studies and participation on the creation of the hydro stress index ig90 (developed by the group of hydro resources - Program WAVES). Evaluation of hydro stress in the cities and counties of the state of Ceará, from 2001 to 2025. Studies on the politics of increasing hydro resources, planned and evaluated by the State government of Ceará, for the period from 2001 to 2006. Evaluation on the impact of political actions to increase hydro resources in the state of Ceará and the reduction of hydro stress in the cities and counties of the state. ? UFC Federal University of Ceará. Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering. Fortaleza, Researcher DTI - Programa Waves. Mar/1999 – Feb/2001 Sponsorship CNPq. Information: Fellowship DTI/CNPq. - Program WAVES (Water Availability, Vulnerability of Ecosystems and Society in the Northeast of Brazil) – Program for Brazil–Germany Collaboration. Research Project: "Elaboration of a Mathematical Model for the Evaluation of the Costs of Water, oriented by Professor Dr. José Carlos de Araújo. During this research was developed a computing model named "Value Program" to calculate the cost of water (investment costs, operational and maintenance costs) for the following categories: surface water, underground water, reusable water, water transported by trucks in containers to supply poor communities. These costs were calculated for eleven hydrographic deposits in Ceará. Participation in international seminars and workshops during the research; technical expeditions in ponds, lakes and sections of the rivers in Ceará, with the German team, to check the quality of the water (March/1999 to February/2001). Currently my research interests are biostatistics, GIS – Geographic Information System, and Pedigree Analysis. All the activities that I am developing here will increase my knowledge and ability to work with the following software, SPSS, ArcGIS, PEDSYS and SOLAR. These tools will be crucial in my work when I will be back in Brazil. I am working here collaboratively with Dr. Relana Pinkerton who has helped familiarize me with biostatistics and data management. I hope to continue collaborating with CGH through my future activities in Brazil with Dr. Aldo Lima on the International Collaborations in Infectious Diseases ( ICIDR) grant.
