Former Graduate Students
Jim Holaska graduated with a Ph.D. in 2001. After doing a postdoc with Kathy Wilson at Johns Hopkins University, he took a faculty position at the University of Chicago.
Susi Steggerda graduated with a Ph.D. in 2001. After doing a postdoc with David Morgan at the University of California at San Francisco, she took a research scientist position with a bay area biotech company called Pharmacyclics.
Ben Black graduated with a Ph.D. in 2002. After doing a postdoc with Don Cleveland at the University of California at San Diego, he took a faculty position at the University of Pennsylvania.
Nima Afshar graduated with a Ph.D. in 2006. Nima is currently doing a postdoc with Joachim Li at the University of California at San Francisco.
Leonard Shank graduated with a Ph.D. in 2007. Leonard went directly to a faculty position at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois., where he is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry.
Former Postdoctoral Fellows
Wayne Speckmann did a short postdoc in the lab in 2001, and took a position with Upstate Biotechnology in Charlottesville.
Lyne Levesque completed her postdoctoral work in the lab in 2002, and took a faculty position at the University of Illinois.
Former Undergraduate Students
Rita Pezeschan completed her undergraduate research in the lab in 2001, and is currently doing doctoral studies at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Laurie Mitchell worked in the lab as an undergraduate until 2001. Laurie is pursuing a MA degree in education at the Currie School here at UVA.
Matt Skernolis worked in the lab as an undergraduate and later as a full-time research assistant until 2002. Matt obtained his J.D. from Georgetown and is working in the DC area.
