  Animal Orders from Approved Vendors

Each species and/or vendor has their own weekly deadline for the placement of animal orders to be shipped the following week. For information on shipping date, animal pricing and availability, or standing orders to meet your research animal needs contact Ms. Linda Johnson.
  • To order animals, an individual MUST be on an approved protocol.
  • Animal orders are accepted online only.
  • All orders must go through Comparative Medicine's website.

  Animals From Other Institutions or Non-approved Sources

  Animals from other institutions or non-approved sources require:

Submission of a Requests For Animals From Other Institutions form. The form can be faxed, mailed, emailed, or picked up in-person. The main office is located at MR5, room G010. The contact person in Penny Pittman. (Phone number is 434-924-2052) (Fax number is 434-924-0354) The form is also available in .pdf form for downloading.

  • Receipt of animals from other institutions requires veterinary approval and quarantine to minimize the risk of introducing rodent pathogens into our established colonies.

  • Shipment of animals from other institutions also warrants a Materials Transfer Agreement. See Vice President for Research for more information. Vice President for Research
