Research Description Dr. Beller's lab is engaged in the development of new radionuclide imaging agents for cardiac imaging and validating their worth in animal models of myocardial ischemia, infarction hibernation, and atherosclerosis. New applications of currently utilized imaging agents are also explored in this research laboratory. Most often, nuclear cardiology data are correlated with hemodynamic, biomarker and histological information. More recently, the lab is engaged in examining the value of novel adenosine A2A agonists for reducing myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury after experimental myocardial infarction. For these experiments, cardiac MR is also utilized to evaluate myocardial infarct size and left ventricular remodeling. Dr. Beller’s clinical research deals with the diagnostic and prognostic value of cardiac imaging techniques, with an emphasis on nuclear cardiology.
