UVA Breast Center

UVa’s Breast Care Center is a comprehensive diagnostic facility that combines quality breast care services in one location. 

Breast imaging and clinical services combined allow for patients to see multiple members of the Breast Care Team in one location where providers can easily communicate with each other.  There is no other comprehensive facility in the region with this combination of services for rapid testing, accurate diagnosis and timely treatment. 

The Breast Care Center has an extensive imaging area that houses the latest technology. All breast images are interpreted by certified radiologists who specialize in breast imaging and utilize the most advanced mammography, ultrasound, and MRI technology. 

Breast Imaging services at the Breast Care Center include:

  • digital and film mammography (primarily diagnostic with limited screening)
  • breast ultrasound
  • core-needle biopsies
  • needle localizations prior to breast surgery

Clinical space in the Breast Care Center houses rotating clinics that specialize in a various breast health and disease areas.  All of our board-certified clinicians and surgeons have specialty training in breast care and are committed to providing the latest and most proven prevention, diagnostic, treatment and reconstruction options. 

Clinical Breast Care services at the Breast Care Center include:

  • breast health exams and benign breast disease management      
  • high-risk management and detection utilizing ductal lavage
  • breast-conservation surgery or mastectomy consultations
  • lymphedema treatment and prevention
  • second opinions
  • cancer genetics assessments and screenings

Elegantly designed to evoke a sense of peace and tranquility, the Breast Care Center is located just inside the West Complex entrance, just past our healing garden and a few floors below the Cancer Center.
