This is a time of tremendous activity and hope in the Cancer Center. Exciting plans are taking shape, new alliances are forming, research breakthroughs are imminent.
Realizing that change is unsettling, we believe that it also creates opportunity. At the University of Virginia Cancer Center, we look at change as opportunity to expand and improve the services we offer to people with cancer, and to their friends and family.
Take a look at some changes we've made over the last 6 years.....
- We created teams of healthcare experts who treat not only the disease itself, but also show patients and their loved ones how to cope with how cancer affects whole lives.
- We centralized our outpatient clinic services, which now offer our patients the convenience of a single-stop experience.
- We opened a state-of-the art Bone Marrow Transplant unit and clinic.
- We created a nationally recognized program in prostate cancer research.
- We formed numerous support groups and made a variety of counseling alternatives available.
- We have been chosen by the Center for Disease Control to be the first place in Virginia to operate a Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.
- We designed programs that support, educate and empower patients.
- We created a Palliative Care unit.
- We have a digital mammography unit.
Our wish list continues to grow as we look to the future and continue our mission to provide patients with the highest quality medical care in the most compassionate and holistic manner, to continue the exploration into cancer vaccines & genetic research, to reach further into the community with outreach programs, to expand the services of Radiation Oncology, to plan for a free-standing Cancer Center... just to name a few of our goals.
We want to become much more than simply a cancer center. We want to become a cancer center that you or a loved one would turn to should you ever need us.
There is a wide variety of services and programs that you may choose to support with your contribution. You may also decide to simply give an unrestricted gift that supports our work.

Cancer is a territory that no one willingly enters.
It can be forbidding, frightening, disorienting.
At the University of Virginia Cancer Center,
we help patients and families make the journey
as successfully as possible by placing them at the center
of an extensive network of care.
We make our experience and resources
available to them at every step of the way
to help them cultivate their own strength and wisdom.
Invest in the future of cancer care. You will make a difference.
You have our deepest gratitude,
Your Cancer Center healthcare team.
