Dr. Rheuban is the Medical Director of the Office of Telemedicine. The Office serves as the hub site of a 59-site telemedicine network through which they provide live interactive clinical consultative services, patient screenings, health professional education, patient education and other broadband facilitated interactive and asynchronous applications. This network has also been used to assess patient suitability for access to clinical trials, and for collaborative tumor boards. To date more than 7100 patient encounters have been facilitated through this network in addition to thousands of hours of health professional education. Through the Office of Continuing Medical Education, health professional educational opportunities have been developed and deployed using an array of different medical education platforms that include live conferences, grand rounds series, affiliated hospital activities, video-teleconferenced activities, and enduring materials that include web based, CD ROM, monograph and other venues . Dr. Rheuban joined the Cancer Center in 2004 and collaborates with the clinical investigators and educators to provide professional and lay outreach to rural regions of Virginia and West Virginia.
