Oncology Outpatient Therapy Program


The Ambulatory Oncology Program is designed to meet the needs of patients whose lifestyle has been altered by cancer and cancer related treatment.  With the emphasis on optimizing function and well-being, individual treatment plans help patients recover from the effects of cancer treatment.  Communication is maintained with primary care physician/team of physicians.


Oncology Program Goals:


  • Individualize program based on the patients overall prognosis, needs and goals
  • Improve function
  • Prevent and/or minimize the complications of the disease process and related medical interventions
  • Prevent or delay disability when possible
  • Facilitate realistic goal setting for patient and/or family
  • Provide timely communication with referral sources
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive outcome tracking data base


Indications for therapy referral:


  • Generalized weakness
  • Decreased flexibility
  • Range of motion deficits
  • Fatigue
  • Pain management issues
  • Neuropathy (Peripheral and Radiation)
  • Decreased conditioning
  • Incontinence (pelvic floor program)
  • Cardiopulmonary limitations
  • Adaptive equipment fitting/recommendations
  • Swallowing difficulties
  • Cognitive issues
  • Communication issues

Referrals must be provided by a doctor.  If you experience the concerns above, please ask your doctor for a referral.
