Stipend, Tuition, and
Health Insurance Information

All admitted students receive a stipend at the uniform level set for the Biomedical Sciences at U.Va., as well as health insurance and tuition costs. Once a student has committed to performing his/her dissertation research in a mentor's laboratory, it is the student's mentor's obligation to cover these costs from his/her research grant.

Faculty members who are not confident of their ability to provide all 3 components of the requisite support (stipend, tuition, health insurance) during a student's Ph.D. years should inform the Director of the Biophysics Program of their possible need for assistance preferably before a Biophysics student begins a research rotation in their lab.
