The Application Process
The application deadline for fall admission is February 15.In general, students are accepted for enrollment in the fall semester of each year. It is strongly recommended that accepted students pre-enroll for summer research rotations.
Criteria for Admission:
- A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in a discipline in the natural or physical sciences.
- Courses in: calculus, physics, general, physical and organic chemistry, a basic biology sequence (core classes). Some of these course requirements may be waved and may be made up during the first year of graduate school.
- A proven academic record in quantitative science.
- GRE scores (quantitative, qualitative, analytical). GRE subject scores are not required, although they could be helpful in the evaluation process of applicants.
- Applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide scores from the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) taken within the last two years.
- A $40, non-refundable application fee.
- At least two letters of recommendation regarding undergraduate or postgraduate research experience.
A formal application must be filed with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS). Application information (including an on-line application form) can be found on the GSAS application information page.
