Protein sequencing by Edman chemistry
Protein sequencing by Edman chemistry has been discontinued as of March 2008 due to limited use.
If you need this service, we suggest you look at the yellow pages of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilites.
Questions about sample requirements should be addressed to the facility you choose for Edman sequencing but John Shannon at 434-243-939 can discuss sample preparation.
The Mass Spectrometry Core can identify proteins and obtain data for cloning. Mass spectrometry analysis is more sensitive than Edman chemistry, is unaffected by N-terminal blockage which renders many protein unsuitable for Edman chemistry and provides more total sequence data.
