The purpose of this website is to provide an online educational curriculum that introduces fundamental concepts in surgical research ethics. These topics will be reinforced with case scenarios in surgical research emphasizing practical applications. The content presented will focus on the relationship between the conceptual foundations of bioethics and surgical clinical research. The course will also discuss research approaches in surgery, such as evidence-based surgery and surgical innovation, and discuss their ethical implications. It is intended to help surgeons and surgical residents learn to distinguish and recognize the various forms of surgical innovation and subsequently approach them with the necessary ethical guiding principles and regulations.Who is the intended audience?
This course is intended for every practicing surgeon and surgical resident, currently engaged in any form of clinical research or who expects to become actively engaged in surgical research, surgical innovation or evidence-based surgery.
